Best Book Series

It is rare to come across a new book these days that isn’t part of a series. There are many series that I have started, but lost interest in somewhere along the way.

Here are the series I stuck with until the end, or am eager to continue as I await the last book. I wouldn’t have completed them all if I didn’t love them, so you can consider these books and this page, one giant RAVE!

It would be impossible for me to chose my number one favourite book series, out of the many I have read. But the Fallen Crest series by Tijan would definitely be in the running for that top spot.

Tijan is an indie writer with a pretty devoted following and an impressive collection of books under her belt. Her stories are high on drama, but completely addictive because of it.

This series centers around the main character Samantha, and her step-brothers Mason and Logan Kade. Sam is a tough girl, which is fortunate, because her new living situation is as hostile as it can get. Mason and Logan are intimidating, brooding, arrogant, and sexy as sin rule-breakers. They’re the King’s of their high-school, Fallen Crest Public, which just so happens to be the rival of Sam’s school, Fallen Crest Academy.

As the series progresses, all kinds of drama ensues. And I’m talking – Beat downs, manic-episodes, blackmail, love-triangles and arson. And there’s a pretty epic love story that makes Mason one of my most loved book boyfriends.

There is another book in this series titled Mason, which is a prequel to the series told in Mason’s POV. It’s not necessary to read it, but it’s an added bonus if, like me, you crave more and more from these characters. There’s also an alternate version of Fallen Crest Public which Tijan chose to publish due to popular demand. She’s pretty awesome like that!

Here is a link to the first book in the series:

Broken and Screwed, also by Tijan, is another of my faves for drama. This series is about Alexandra and Jesse who have one very important person in common – Ethan. Alex is grieving the loss of her beloved brother, while Jesse is dealing with the loss of his best friend.

This isn’t your typical ‘falling for brothers best friend’ tale, as things are far from smooth sailing for Jesse and Alex. They spend a lot of time pretending each other doesn’t exist, and trying to deny the fire that burns between them.

ADDICTED by Becca & Krista Ritchie

There are no words for how truly ADDICTIVE this incredible series is! I put off reading it forever, then cursed myself for it upon finishing the first book. I could not stop reading this series once I started, and I truly wish it would have gone on and on and on…

The identical twins responsible for weaving this series together have so much talent, and together they write these characters so well you truly feel as though they’re real.

The story focuses on two people – Lily Calloway and Loren Hale. Best friends since childhood, addicts since their teens. Lily is a sex addict. Lo, an alcoholic. Both have enabled each others addictions since the beginning, but when their secret lives are exposed, the people closest to them force them to break the cycle and get healthy. But of course, it’s not that easy.

Lily’s sisters Rose and Daisy also play a major role in this series, as do Lily and Lo’s two unlikely friends Connor and Ryke. The six characters make up a series that is eight – soon to be nine – books strong. It may seem like a huge endeavor, to set out to read so many books, but sincerely – it will not be a hardship. Like me I am sure you will not want the stories to end. And luckily, that is the case for now, as the twins have recently announced another spin-off from the series based on these characters off spring.

This is a love story like no other. Lily & Lo will win your heart, I am sure of it.

The Addicted spin-off series. These books slot in between the Addicted books and should not be overlooked. To find out the reading order, check out the twins goodreads page.

And now for something completely different… J.J. McAvoy’s Ruthless People series well and truly lives up to it’s name!

Here’s the official synopsis of book one:

To the outside world, they look like American Royalty, giving to charities, feeding the homeless, rebuilding the city. But behind closed doors is a constant battle for dominance between two Bosses, cultures, and hearts.

Ruthless People is a romantic crime fiction set in modern day Chicago, following the life and marriage of Melody Nicci Giovanni and Liam Callahan—rivals by blood and leaders through fear. Their marriage was arranged by their fathers in hopes to end years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians.

Liam, next in line to lead the Irish, believes he’s getting a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need . . . the complete opposite of Melody. Bred to be a Boss, a world-class marksman, master of disguise, with no mercy and no fear. Twenty-four years later, she has achieved more than any man could even dream of, killing anyone who steps in her way. She knows exactly what type of man Liam is, and she would rather die than give up the power she has spent her whole life building. But with no other family left, she must not only learn to work with Liam, but the whole Callahan clan.

The Mafia of the past is evolving, and with rival bosses gunning for them, Melody and Liam will have to figure out how to work as one to take down those who stand in their way, all while keeping up appearances.

Warning: This book contains adult language and subject matter including graphic violence and explict sex that may be disturbing for some readers. This book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

If that doesn’t capture  your attention, I don’t know what will. This series is offensive, and disturbing at times and certainly lives up to the warning. But Mel and Liam will take you on a wild ride throughout the three book series, full of twists and turns you will not see coming and it makes for one of the most thrilling reads I have had the pleasure of being obsessed with.

THE FAE CHRONICLES by Amelia Hutchins

Prior to reading this series, I had never thought to give a fantasy story a chance. They simply did not appeal. But the rave reviews I stumbled upon for Fighting Destiny could not be ignored, and so I gave the book a chance… and I was hooked from the very first page! This is a real page turner of a series, that keeps the big reveals coming and keeps you guessing all the way through.

Ryder and Syn are sexy, powerful characters, that bring words like Epic and kick-ass to mind. One is a witch from the human world, the other a Fae from Faery. Both are powerful in their own right and both are capable of destroying each other if they don’t work together.

There are faeries, witches, demons, vampires, ghosts and ghouls. And some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read between two characters. There is one more book yet to be released before this series is complete, then a spin-off with some of the best supporting characters.  I recommend this series, hard.

The Keatyn Chronicles follows the life of the beautiful, young Keatyn. Popular among her peers, daughter of a famous actress, and step-daughter to one of Hollywood’s hottest actors. Keatyn has everything going for her. But with her mothers fame, comes unwanted attention. A stalker is on the loose and has Keatyn in his sight.

For her protection, Keatyn is sent away to a private boarding school, where she must put on her most important act. She cannot tell anyone who she is, who her family is, where she’s from… nothing. Or she may be found.

There are so many lovable guys in this series, and like Keatyn, choosing between two of them is difficult. Frustrating at times, this story held my attention and didn’t let up, right until the very end. And though love-triangles are always difficult, I was pleased with who won her heart in the end.

It may seem like this series is geared more toward the younger age bracket, but it really isn’t. There is sex, and sexual situations that aren’t suitable for young people, and there’s plenty of drama to keep readers of most ages interested.

VIP by M. Robinson

I don’t know if I would class this series as dark, but it is far from being a light-hearted tale. It chronicles the lives of Sebastian and Ysabelle – and of course, The Madam.

VIP stands for Very Important Pussy, and that is what Ysabelle becomes. After The Madam takes her under her wing. Ysabelle transforms from a young teen runaway, to one of the most in demand VIP’s working at the Cathouse. She’s flawless, making more money than she could ever have dreamed of, and she’s pined after everywhere she goes. It is through her job one evening that she meets Sebastian Vanwell. A handsome, successful boat broker, that sees the face of the girl he once loved, in Ysa.

This book is morally corrupt and should be avoided if you have triggers – like affairs. Because Sebastian is a married man when he meets Ysa. But if you can look past that, this series is sure to be one you won’t forget. It is at times tough to read, because it is no fairytale! But now that it’s over, I can safely say, it is worth the heartache in the end.

The second book can be skipped if you only want to focus on Ysa and Sebastian’s story, though I wouldn’t recommend that. The Madams story is important and adds to the first and third books. There is also a fourth book which focuses on two side characters and a fifth book, yet to be released. Ysa and Sebastians story is complete.

ROCK CHICK by Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley is the queen of alpha-males, and her men don’t get any better than the hot bunch in this series. Seriously… pick any book, and you will not be disappointed. These books are equal parts hilarious, action packed and sexy. My personal favourites are books number one, five and eight. One because it’s the original, and Lee is awesome. Five because Luke is to die for. And eight because it’s HOT AS HELLLL.

Read them!

DUSTY by Mary & Sarah Elizabeth

19214578 (1)23441296 (1)

Dusty started out as a Twilight fanfiction, written by a couple of friends who called themselves the Elizabeths. Nowadays the book has been transformed into one of the most beautiful, but difficult books I have ever read. It is poetic in the way it is written, and it is clear that two people have taken on the writing duties, as of each of the two main characters have very distinct voices.

The story is maddening at times and is the kind that will cause bouts of anger, frustration and tears between scenes that make you laugh, lust and fall in love. It is so heartbreakingly good. It’s told over more than ten years, from Bliss’ childhood, until her late teens. It deals with young love, secrets, heartbreak and at the core, addiction.

I could not put the first book down, and I counted down the days until the second book was released because I HAD to know what was to come for Bliss and Dusty. This is one of those books you just have to push on and read, even if you’re afraid to, because it is worth it in the end. Trust me.

LUX by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I’m not a big fan of the YA Genre, but it seemed everyone on Goodreads had something good to say about this series. So I gave it a go. And once again, I was not disappointed.

This is a paranormal tale of young love and government conspiracies. Daemon and Katy’s lives are never dull and the adventure they take you on throughout the series, is never boring.

With an average of 4.35 Stars from over 359,000 ratings on Goodreads, this series is not to be ignored.

Hopefully this page will grow as I come across new books to read. But for now I leave you with these awesome stories to go check out! I highly recommend them ALL.
